Children's Books
Anthologies with Isabel Campoy

Poetry in the Classroom  Poetry is a child’s good friend, because children are by nature, poets. Poetry can be a source of pleasure. It awaken children aesthetic sense. In the process of enjoying poetry they also develop phonemic awareness, through the poems rhyme and alliterations, and enrich children’s vocabulary in an unsurpassable way. In addition, poetry can inspire children’s own writing.  Because poetry is revered in all cultures, children will develop a sense of pride in their language when it is presented as a poem and because poetry is rich in cultural references it will contribute to enrich their sense of self and of participants of a culture.  Poetry can also be, of course, an excellent vehicle for the appreciation of other cultures.  For me, it has always been a joy to share poetry with children and to create poetry for them.  The books listed in this section include poetry I have written for children as well as poetry I have identified for them. It is a privilege to have shared the process of selected and compiling poetry with extraordinary authors as F. Isabel Campoy, Lee Bennett Hopkins and Violet Harris.

Songs in the Classroom  The importance of songs in the classroom cannot be overly emphasized. Songs are a vehicle for both teachers and students.
